As I get older leaving the family is getting harder and harder. I just miss the family too much and hate being away from them. Its going to be cool in the coming years as they get older and then they can start coming with me and enjoying Heroes as much as I do. Its a great show and I love it to death. Its a comicbook/art show and the people and fans are just fantastic. One of the greatest things to happen to me was not the money I made, but when a fan comes up and says, Mr. Deering, do you mind signing some books? Not at all, I say and he proceeds to pull out multiple copies of a bunch of the books Ive done in the past. A BUNCH. Like 4 copies of Supergirl #26. And a few others as well. Then he goes through my cheap books and buys all the ones that he was missing. That just does the heart good, you know?
Another highlight, and this isnt even Heroes/comics related, was meeting up with my old Army buddy Cedric Tucker. We went through AIT and our first duty station, in Panama, together. I hadnt seen or heard from him in 14 years and it was great seeing him again. This proves the power of Facebook. We had some stories for each other, thats for sure.
I actually did some sketches at the show. So to everyone who has to stare at my crappy sketches and those 2 guys whose sketchbooks I ruined, I'm sorry.
I am a Copic marker convert. Wow! Those things are amazing.
A shout out to all my Sidebar messageboard brothers. Great meeting all of you.
There are pics from the show up on my site;
